This month Create teamed up with 1st Pannal Cubs, to give remote lesson in furniture design and building.
Harrogate based 1st Pannal Cubs teamed up with local business Create CNC for a woodworking lesson via video conferencing. Each of the group’s 24 Cubs were shown how to build their own piece of birch plywood furniture – supplied free of charge by Create CNC.
Current restrictions surrounding Covid-19 have meant that Cub sessions can only take place remotely, with group meetings held every Friday via Zoom.
Create CNC designed a bespoke piece of furniture – a beautiful Birch Plywood wooden stool. Each cub then assembled the piece with instructions, hints and tips provided by Create CNC.
Create’s Managing Director Barry Bland oversaw the session, ensuring that each cub successfully completed the project. At the end of the evening 24 proud cubs were able to show off their personal piece of furniture, many of which now have pride of place in their houses.
”Scouting is about learning skills for life, and this evening provided a hugely enjoyable and practical exercise for the cubs. Their beaming faces after creating a bespoke piece of furniture says it all. We can’t thank Create CNC enough for the design, materials and time. It’s great to see a local business supporting our young people, especially during this difficult period.Alistair How1st Pannal Group Scout Leader
